Anyone age 21 or older can sign up to be a registered leader for any Scouting unit. They must first complete the S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth training before their adult application can be submitted. A background check and a search in the Volunteer Screening Database will be performed before an approved application is returned. Every adult who actively participates weekly in Pack 650 will have the $70 adult application fee covered by the Pack 650 as a Thank You for your service.
If any adult who is not a parent or guardian would like to attend an event they must first go through the adult leader application process and be approved as a registered leader before attending.
There are a ton of roles an adult can fulfill for an active Scouting unit. Depending on the unit you are looking to support those roles change. In Cub Scouts, they might need someone to sit on a committee and provide ideas, help with logistics, or be a liaison for a local community group. Not every role is in direct contact with scouts.
