We have been scouting in the Rincon Georgia community since 2003 and we have a great group of trained and experienced parents and leaders supporting the Pack. We are a coed Pack lead and trained with guidance from the local district Twin Rivers, Coastal Georgia Council, council service territory (CST) 14, and national Scouting America (formally Boy Scouts of America). Every year is different and lead by our PALM (Parents And Leaders Meeting) committee who help plan activities, gather resources, schedule campouts, Pinewood Derbies, Rain Gutter Regatta's, Day Trips, community service, conservation projects, and hikes. We are a fun and entertaining bunch of scouters looking to enrich children's lives with thought provoking learning in the outdoors.
Pack 650 lives by the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and the Scout Mission. Since 1910 a lot of things have changed but one thing remains the same, children need a safe and friendly environment to grow into the successful leaders we need tomorrow. Through these foundations of scouting, we strive to develop character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership in every child. Scouting is a family event for everyone including adults (21+) so let us Scout You In.
Scouting isn't in competition with other local sports, clubs, or leagues. A family can choose to do both. Typically, other youth organizations run in seasons for a few months of the year while Scouting is a 12-month program. A scout doesn't need to attend every scouting event to meet the badge of rank for that year, but they do need to complete the requirements listed in their handbook and have it approved by a leader. Some of this could be done at home or at other events. Financially, the scout can even fund their own scouting journey through fundraising. While attendance at events isn't mandatory it's the best Method in advancement, ideals of scouting, leadership development, and outdoor programs.
Character, Citizenship, Personal Fitness, and Leadership
Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Scout Mission: The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Declaration of Religious Principle: Scouting America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God and, therefore, recognizes the religious element in the training of the member, but it is nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training. Its policy is that the home and organization or group with which a member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life. Only persons willing to subscribe to this Declaration of Religious Principle and to the Bylaws of Scouting America shall be entitled to certificates of membership.
Pack 650 remains true to this principle. If you or your family would like to enhance the Pack's "nonsectarian attitude toward religious training" we welcome you to join us as our Chaplain or Chaplin aide. Reach out to our Cubmaster today to serve as a Chaplain or Chaplain aide is a unique opportunity for ministry. While serving in this role, you will have the opportunity to help Scouts as they grow, both physically and spiritually. Some techniques to be used are modeling, mentoring, and offering faith-based experiences.
Our meetings are every school Tuesday 6:30pm - 7:30pm at 923 Old Augusta Road South, Rincon for the coed family Pack (5-11 year olds). The boys Troop 625 (11-17 year olds) also meet at the same location and time.
Our meeting location, house number 923, is just off of Old Augusta Rd. Turn onto the gravel road at the white scout sign on 923 Old Augusta Rd South and on the right is our favorite post with orange post with "T625 & P650". Continue down the gravel road, through the farm gate with scouting signs, and find the last house at the end of the gravel road. Parking is in the right field near the cabin.
